Transition Medical is a specialist medical recruitment agency based in Edinburgh. It specialises in helping General Practitioners (GPs) move to Australia and New Zealand.
This is a good example of how we work with a recruitment agent in the UK and how this arrangement is mutually beneficial.
We were approached by Transition Medical in 2018. They were looking for ongoing professional support and advice to aid the passage of their GP clients to Australia. Since that initial contact we have helped over 30 GPs and their families to gain both temporary and permanent visas.
Medical Practitioners coming to Australia must have their skills assessed by the Australian regulating body and must be able to demonstrate that there is a genuine need for their presence at their selected location. In addition to this, GPs and other Medical Practitioners are subject to very highly-prescriptive professional admission regulations which are unique to this occupation group.
As well as assisting the individual visa applicants, we also with with the majority of the practices for whom the GPs will be working. This involves advising the practices in relation to sponsorship obligations and the visa nomination process, including the Labour Market Testing regime.
We advise on the various visa pathways that are most suitable for the GP client and their prospective employer in Australia. In offering the advice, we take into account both the short and long term aspirations of the GP client and the objectives of their prospective employer. Generally speaking GPs will opt for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa with a view to applying for permanent residency after a settling in period in Australia.
We advise on the information that will be needed for the chosen visa application and the evidence that will be required to support the application. Having collated the information and evidence we then prepare a draft application for approval. Once lodged, we keep in touch with the visa applicants and assist them with any requests for further information, including their medicals and police checks.
Once granted, we offer support services to every applicant to help them relocate here as smoothly as possible.
We have an excellent working relationship with Transition Medical. We add value to our relationship by keeping them up to speed with changes to Migration Law and policy that may impact their business and the decisions of their clients. We are in regular communication with them to ensure that every visa application goes without a hitch.
At the outset, we agreed a fixed reasonable fee for our work. This helps Transition Medical budget for the overall cost of their work.
Repeat work means that Transition Medical can both be very efficient when instructing us and we in turn are very efficient in dealing with the individuals concerned. Likewise, over the last four years we have built up excellent working relations with the connected medical practices in Australia.
We help the visa applicant and any family members plan for their move to Australia with the aim of making the visa application process as smooth as possible. We can also advise them at a very early stage of future, long term visa prospects. We take a holistic approach that goes well beyond the bare legal requirements
