Starting a subsidiary company in Australia and then helping the first critical team member to move from the UK to Australia.
Techbuyer is a global specialist in the buying, refurbishing and selling of enterprise IT equipment. It helps businesses maximise their IT budgets by supplying cost-effective new and quality refurbished servers, storage, memory and networking equipment.
We were first approached by Techbuyer Ltd in the UK in February 2018. They were looking to looking to establish an office and operation in Victoria, Australia. This enquiry came about as they were receiving enquires and service contracts in Australia which they were struggling to deal with remotely. Their research led them to conclude that they needed a new Australian entity to be formed to facilitate business growth in Australia.
Techbuyer wanted to move one of their IT Business Analysts to Australia. He wanted to move here on a permanent basis with his family.
We recommended an Australian Accountant to assist Techbuyer to set up an Australian subsidiary company. To facilitate this, Richard Field agreed to be the first Australian director as Techbuyer did not have any contacts in Australia. He maintained this role for about 18 months before resigning when requested to do so.
The choice of visa was complicated by the fact that the applicant was over 45. As such we could not apply for permanent residency straightaway. Instead, he would have to come to Australia on a temporary skilled work visa. To be able to apply for permanent residency he would have to work for Techbuyer Australia for three years and earn over the Fair Work High Income threshold for each of the three years.
In August 2018 we applied for Techbuyer Australia Pty Ltd to be approved as a Standard Business Sponsor as the first stage to the applicant applying for a 482 visa.
In September 2018, we applied for the nomination of the visa applicant in the role of IT Business Analyst.
The visa applicant met the three-year work requirement and we applied for him and his family to be permanent residents.
